PROGRAMMES

Japan Career Pathways

Three high-demand sectors with strong and sustained hiring from Indian professionals. Choose the pathway that matches your skills, background, and long-term goals.

IT Engineer — Japan

Work as a software engineer, QA analyst, or systems engineer in Japan’s leading technology companies. Bilingual roles (Japanese + English) come with strong compensation, structured career growth, and employer-sponsored visa. Japan’s IT sector is aggressively hiring experienced Indian developers who are language-capable.

  • N3–N4 Japanese minimum (N2 for senior roles)
  • 1–3 years IT experience in software / QA / systems
  • Java, Python, C#, React, infrastructure stacks
  • ₹6–12 LPA equivalent in JPY (¥250k–¥400k/month)
  • Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka locations

Manufacturing — Japan

Skilled operators, quality inspectors, and process engineers in Japan’s precision manufacturing sector. Japan’s ageing manufacturing workforce has created sustained demand for trained Indian engineering graduates. Many roles include factory accommodation and structured on-the-job certification pathways.

  • N4 Japanese minimum (all communication is in Japanese)
  • Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical / ECE / EEE / Production
  • Quality control / CNC / assembly / maintenance roles
  • Structured 3–5 year TITP or SSW contract
  • Factory accommodation often provided by employer

Hospitality & Senior Care

Japan faces a critical shortage in caregiving and hospitality — structural demand that will only grow over the next decade. This is a genuine opportunity for compassionate, service-oriented professionals with Japanese language skills to build a stable, rewarding career in Japan with employer-sponsored visa and benefits.

  • N4 Japanese required for all care and hospitality roles
  • No prior Japanese work experience needed for care roles
  • Certified Care Worker (Kaigo Fukushishi) pathway available
  • Visa fully sponsored by the employing facility
  • One of Japan’s fastest-growing long-term employment sectors
Note: Salary figures shown in the FAQ are indicative ranges based on NEX-GEN Tokyo pipeline data. Actual offers depend on employer, location, experience, and role level. Specific packages are discussed during the employer interview stage.

OUR UNIQUE ADVANTAGE

Why iTokyo Placements Are Different

Most placement agencies are middlemen with no real presence in Japan. iTokyo is structurally different — we own the full placement pipeline through NEX-GEN Corporation, our licensed sister company based in Tokyo, Japan.

Structural advantage

NEX-GEN Corporation Tokyo

Our Tokyo-based sister company is a licensed recruitment and staffing firm operating inside Japan’s employment ecosystem. We don’t rely on third-party agents or referral brokers — NEX-GEN directly interfaces with Japanese employers, manages contracts, and handles all local compliance. When you are placed, you have a real corporate address in Tokyo behind you.

Employer access

Direct Employer Network

NEX-GEN’s decade-long employer relationships across IT, manufacturing, care, and hospitality sectors mean faster approvals, better role quality, and candidates who are genuinely matched — not just submitted in bulk. Employers trust NEX-GEN pre-screened candidates, which increases interview-to-offer ratios significantly.

One team, full journey

End-to-End Support

From language training at iTokyo Academy in India — to employer matching by NEX-GEN in Tokyo — to COE and visa documentation — to post-arrival housing and onboarding orientation. The entire India-to-Japan journey is managed by one integrated team. No handoffs to strangers, no gaps, no abandoned candidates mid-process.

100% compliant

Compliance Guarantee

All placements follow Japan’s official labour categories — the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) or Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) — with proper employer registration and government approvals. There are zero hidden fees, no salary deductions in Japan, and no undisclosed agent commissions. Everything is transparent and legal.

HOW IT WORKS

Your Japan Career Journey — 5 Steps

A structured, guided pathway from initial assessment to Japan arrival. Total timeline is typically 6–9 months from the point of application, depending on sector, role availability, and visa processing.

  1. Language & Skills Assessment

We assess your current Japanese level (diagnostic test), technical skills profile, and career goals during a free counseling session. Most placement candidates are at N4–N3 Japanese at the time of placement. If you are below N4, we recommend completing iTokyo’s N5→N4 pathway (7 months) as the standard starting point before applying for placement.

  2. NEX-GEN Matching

Your complete profile — Japanese level, technical skills, work experience, location flexibility, and salary expectations — is submitted to NEX-GEN Corporation Tokyo. Their employer network reviews open positions and identifies roles that genuinely fit your profile. NEX-GEN does not apply you to every open role; they match selectively for quality. Matching typically takes 2–4 weeks.

  3. Interview & Preparation

We prepare you comprehensively for Japanese employer interviews — the format (structured, formal), cultural expectations (punctuality, humility, directness), technical question types, and language-use expectations. Mock interview rounds are included. Most candidates complete 1–3 interview rounds before receiving an offer. The interview is conducted online via video.

  4. Visa & Documentation

Once you receive and accept an offer, iTokyo and NEX-GEN manage the complete Certificate of Eligibility (COE) and work visa documentation process. This includes employer attestation, document translation, FRRO formalities, and application filing. COE processing by Japan Immigration Services Agency typically takes 60–90 days. Our last 4 consecutive placement intakes achieved 100% COE success rate.

  5. Japan Arrival & Support

NEX-GEN’s Tokyo-based team provides comprehensive post-arrival orientation: initial housing arrangement, bank account setup guidance, IC card and commuting setup, workplace cultural etiquette briefing, and onboarding coordination with your employer. You arrive in Japan with a known contact, a place to stay, and a team who knows your name.

FAQ

Japan Placement — Common Questions

Everything you need to know before applying to our Japan placement programme. Still have questions? Our counselors respond within 24 hours.

What is the minimum Japanese level required for Japan placement?

Most placements require N4 Japanese as the minimum. IT bilingual roles often require N3 or higher. Interpreter and senior bilingual roles may require N2.

If you are currently below N4, we recommend completing iTokyo’s N5→N4 pathway first — it takes approximately 7 months and is the most common starting point for placement candidates. After completing N4, you can immediately apply for the placement programme while continuing towards N3 if desired.

Are there any fees to apply for Japan placement?

There is no upfront placement application fee. iTokyo’s consultation fee covers the end-to-end service (language training + placement support). There are no hidden fees, no agent commissions charged to candidates, and no salary deductions or employer-funded back-payments in Japan.

All financial terms are discussed openly and transparently during your counseling session before you commit to anything.

How long does the placement process take after applying?

From application to Japan arrival typically takes 6–9 months total:

  • 2–3 months for profile matching and employer interviews
  • 2–3 months for COE and visa processing after offer acceptance
  • 1 month for pre-departure preparation and flight booking

Some urgent or specialty roles move faster. Your counselor will give you a realistic timeline based on your Japanese level, target sector, and available intake windows.

Can I apply if I’m from outside Tamil Nadu?

Absolutely. iTokyo and NEX-GEN accept placement candidates from any Indian state. iTokyo’s campus is in Coimbatore, but all counseling is available online, and language training is offered via live online batches and our LMS platform for students across India.

We have successfully placed candidates from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and other states. If you are serious about working in Japan, geography within India is not a barrier.

What salary can I expect working in Japan?

Salaries vary by role, sector, location within Japan, and experience level. Indicative ranges from our NEX-GEN pipeline data:

  • IT bilingual roles: ¥250,000–¥400,000/month
  • Manufacturing / CNC: ¥180,000–¥250,000/month
  • Caregiving: ¥165,000–¥220,000/month
  • Hospitality: ¥170,000–¥210,000/month

All roles include Japan statutory benefits (national health insurance, pension, paid annual leave, commuting allowance). Specific packages are confirmed during the employer interview stage — we do not advertise guaranteed salary figures as actual offers vary by employer and city.
