Which JLPT level should I start with?
If you have no prior Japanese knowledge, start with N5. It covers all the script basics (Hiragana, Katakana) and foundational grammar. If you've studied Japanese before, book a free counselling session — our team will assess your level and recommend the right entry point.
Do I need to know Japanese before joining?
No prior knowledge is required for the N5 Foundation course. It starts from absolute zero — day one begins with learning Hiragana. For N4 and above, you should have completed N5 or have equivalent proficiency.
What is the difference between offline, online, and LMS?
Offline: Physical classes at our Coimbatore campus — best for discipline and face-to-face interaction. Online Live: Instructor-led sessions via Google Meet/Zoom — same quality as offline, accessible from any state. LMS: Pre-recorded lessons you can study at your own pace — best if you have an unpredictable schedule. All three follow the same JLPT curriculum.
When are the JLPT exams held in India?
JLPT is held twice a year in India — typically in July and December. Exact dates and registration windows are announced by the Japan Foundation. Our course batches are timed to align with exam prep — for example, our Dec–May online batch prepares students for the July exam.
Can I study Japanese for Study in Japan or job placements?
Absolutely. N5 is the minimum requirement for our Study-in-Japan program (UNITAS pathway). For Japan placements in IT, manufacturing, or healthcare, N3 or N2 is typically required. iTokyo offers a complete pathway: language course → JLPT certification → Study in Japan or Job Placement via NEX-GEN.
