The iTokyo Advantage
Why Train for N3 at iTokyo?
Keigo Made Intuitive
Keigo (formal Japanese) is the most feared N3 topic. Our native trainer teaches keigo through real workplace scenarios — business meetings, phone calls, customer service — so you internalise the patterns, not just memorise them.
Newspaper-Level Reading
N3 reading passages use authentic Japanese news article style. Our curriculum progressively builds up to this through graded texts, inference exercises, and vocabulary exposure — so exam texts feel familiar, not frightening.
Job-Ready Japanese
JLPT N3 is the gateway to employment in Japan across manufacturing, hospitality, IT support, and caregiving. Our N3 graduate track record — 230+ placed in Japan via NEX-GEN — proves the real-world value of our certification.
92% Pass Rate — All Levels
Our exam-focused methodology — 20 weeks of structured study, 3 full mock tests, and targeted weak-area coaching — delivers consistent results. Our N3 pass rate matches our school-wide 92% figure.
Got Questions?
N3 Course — Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need N4 certification before joining N3?
Yes, N3 requires solid N4-level proficiency. You should be comfortable with N4 grammar patterns, have approximately 300 Kanji knowledge, and be able to handle basic conversations in Japanese. If you've completed an N4 course elsewhere, we recommend a level check before enrolling — contact us for a free assessment.
Is JLPT N3 enough to work in Japan?
Yes, N3 is the entry-level requirement for many skilled employment categories in Japan — including manufacturing (Specified Skilled Worker), hospitality, caregiving (with N3+), and IT support roles. Some positions require N2, particularly in bilingual or customer-facing roles. We recommend N3 as your career minimum and N2 for higher-value positions.
How hard is keigo and how is it taught?
Keigo (polite/formal Japanese) is the most complex aspect of N3 for most learners, but it's essential for any professional context in Japan. Our native trainer teaches keigo through workplace role-play scenarios — business meetings, phone calls, introductions — so the patterns become natural through use, not just memorisation. We dedicate 2 full weeks specifically to keigo before integrating it throughout the remaining curriculum.
Can I study N3 online if I'm outside Coimbatore?
Absolutely. Our N3 online live class runs with the same native Japanese trainer as the offline batch. Sessions are conducted via Google Meet or Zoom with interactive participation, breakout conversation rooms, and shared digital materials. The online N3 course is available to students from any Indian state — we have N3 students from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and beyond.
What are the JLPT N3 exam pass marks?
The JLPT N3 has a total of 180 marks across 3 sections: Language Knowledge (60 marks), Reading (60 marks), and Listening (60 marks). The overall passing score is typically 95/180 (53%). However, you must also clear minimum section scores — failing any single section (even if the total is enough) results in a fail. Our mock exams simulate this exact structure so you understand the scoring dynamics.
